These chocolate bars bring together three of the most comforting ingredients—rich cacao, creamy tahini, and hearty oats—sweetened with just a touch of coconut nectar.

The result? A treat that captures the deep, nutty flavour of cacao–tahini halva, with a nourishing twist.

When I made these the first time, I was so pleased with how they turned out that I immediately grabbed my phone for a quick photo shoot. Not long after, the bars mysteriously began disappearing from the kitchen counter… one by one. Let’s just say they didn’t last long.

They’re rich, satisfying, and just sweet enough—perfect with an afternoon coffee or as a little evening treat.

Why you’ll love them

  • Naturally gluten-free

  • Made with simple, whole ingredients

  • Tahini provides healthy fats that make these bars satisfying

  • Raw cacao adds antioxidants and deep chocolate flavour

  • No baking required

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups gluten-free oats

  • 1/4 cup tahini

  • 1/4 cup liquid sweetener (e.g., coconut nectar)

Cacao Layer:

  • 1/2 cup organic raw cacao

  • 1/2 cup tahini

  • 1/2 cup liquid sweetener

  • 2-3 tsp vanilla extract

  • Cacao sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles, or chocolate-covered sunflower seeds

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, blend the base ingredients until mixed, then spread the batter into a greased glass container and freeze.
2. In the same bowl, mix the cacao layer ingredients and spread it evenly over the base layer.
3. Top with desired sprinkles or seeds and freeze for a few hours before slicing and serving.
Note: Personalise your toppings according to preference.
This gluten-free chocolate oat bar recipe is the perfect sweet treat for any occasion. Enjoy its rich flavours while knowing it’s a healthier indulgence.

*If you’re concerned about your carb intake, you might try using 1/4 cup of coconut oil and 1/4 cup of liquid sweetener. Although I haven’t personally tried this version, I believe it has the potential to be successful.

**This recipe does not require a blender, making it convenient for many. Note that not using a blender results in a less gooey base compared to the chocolate layer, creating a richer texture.
